Written by Tim Tebow
This is truly an uplifting and motivating book, and not just for sports fans. Tim Tebow describes some of the challenges he has faced in his life, and relates them to how his Faith has pulled him through. His identity isn’t given to him by a football team, a number on his jersey, or the number of his Twitter followers, his identity comes from being a child of God. This book, Shaken, tells the reader that you also belong to God. Tim Tebow Shaken.
Tim Tebow says, “Look, I’m not perfect. I’m on a faith journey just like you are. I have good days. I have bad days. Sometimes I get it right. Other days I struggle. I know that when I’m settled in my identity, I live at my best.” I’m sure we can all relate to having days of ups and downs. Many of Tim Tebow’s days were in the media spotlight, making it even more difficult to deal with his challenges.
You don’t need to have an intense love of football to read and appreciate this book. It’s a book, written by a Christian, interpreting stories from the bible and relating them to circumstances facing our lives today. Tim Tebow is not a bible scholar, or a theologian. He is not a minister in a church with hundreds of members. In his book, he explains bible stories and bible verses in his own manner, and it’s engaging, encouraging and helpful. This is a book for all Christians, whether they are just starting their journey with God, and those who have great knowledge of the bible.
Tim writes about people who he has met through the years, and some people he has met through the Tim Tebow Foundation. He writes about inspirational people, and tells their stories and how he has been impacted by them.
I have set the Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
Born to missionaries in the Philippines, Tim’s dyslexic and color blind. He’s competitive and athletic. He was a beloved college football champion, Heisman trophy winner, media sensation, and best-selling author who was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the Denver Broncos before being traded to the New York Jets. After one season he was cut by New York. Next he was signed by the New England Patriots then let go after training camp—a scenario that repeated itself the following summer with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The book gives insight and encouragement on how to deal with situations and struggles we all face. It gave me motivation and tools to enhance my own faith journey. I enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it.
